Cosmo Clemens (Tenor) is an active performer and loves sharing his passion for all things musical and theatrical with his students! In the 2018/19 season, you can catch Cosmo in Rigoletto with Wolf Trap Opera, La fanciulla del West with Maryland Lyric Opera, and Silent Night (Puts) and Faust with Washington National Opera. As a teacher, Cosmo draws inspiration from staying active and sharing his experiences with students. Whether beginners or aspiring professionals, Cosmo aims to engage his students’ own passions, whatever they may be. From Pop/Rock to Broadway and Opera, bring your biggest dreams!
Cosmo holds a Master of Music and Performance Certificate in Vocal Performance from the Carnegie Mellon School of Music. A native Hoosier, he completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre at Indiana University Bloomington . Cosmo is an active member of the Washington National Opera chorus, having most recently performed in Rossini’s Barber of Seville. Favorite roles include: Anything Goes (Ching/Sailor), West Side Story (Chino), Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party (Scatman), and RENT (Angel), Bernstein’s Candide (Governor) and Ravel’s l’Enfant et les sortilèges (Arithmétique), the Tenor in Hydrogen Jukebox by Philip Glass, and the title role in Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring. Cosmo has appeared in New York theatre as: Prison Dancer (OoOo; New York Musical Theatre Festival), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Chip Tolentino), The Drowsy Chaperone (Gangster No. 1), Les Misérables Combeferre), and The Wiz (The Wiz). Cosmo is a member of AGMA.
